Does anyone know if we have a seperate A/C for the rear? I know in my Subaru Tribeca there was a seperate A/C unit for the rear and I would get A/C condensation dripping near the rear tire. I get the same dripping in the rear on my Explorer with the rear climate controls set to cool.

I cannot find anything on fords website or in manuals about having two A/C units.

Specifically, I'm wondering if fuel economy takes a hit by having the rear controls on.

I suspect it must have, because it blows way colder than the front. It makes sense since you say it drips water back there, I haven't personally noticed it. But I have rode in the third row seat and it gets extremely cold there than the second row not as much.

When traveling long distances I really didn't notice a drop in MPGs.

The rear air has separate condensing coils In the back (where the air blows thru and gets cold).
It uses the same compressor on the engine as the front air.

it uses the same system as the front with the addition of a 2nd rear evaporator.

Cool..
