Rear Air Control PIU?

If it does not have the option factory installed there is no a/c to connect the controls to. The vents in the headliner are present in all models as they only produce one headliner for the whole line. Just as there are 3rd row seat belt holes in the D pillar trim but the PIU has no 3rd row or seat belts for such.

Pk. That sucks.. oh well. Is there a thread here regarding the stereo?

There are several threads on audio upgrades but nothing in the PIU forum. MOst are in the 'Modified' forum. The best thing is to get familiar with the Forum' 'Search' feature (upper right) to local existing threads/posts. It may take a while to familiarize yourself with its use but it can be a very handy tool. I always use the 'Advanced Search' from the pulldown and then select 'Search Threads'.

Apologies if discussed.. Went 10 pages deep before posting this. Recently purchased a PIU.

Is there a way to enable to rear air without the civilian model console?

I did install the OEM console found here locally, unfortunately, the wiring harnesses were not the same as the civilian. Got the DC current to work, but no USB, rear controls, etc....

Getting quite warm back there and obviously the rear controls are void since no traditional console.

Appreciate the input all
I wanted to know about this before salso. Then I had taken out the driver's seat to get under the dash to get to that damn fuse box and found that there is a plastic piece that is on the floor and it looks like that is where the air comes through for the "passengers" going for a ride. You don't need to take out the seat, just stick your hand under the seat from the back seat area and you can feel the duct work there.

That may help others Dennis but the member you quoted was last here on July 16, 2017. :)

Was the issue of no rear air resolved? I have a 2018 PIU that only has front HVAC controls and no rear controls. When I got this vehicle the civilian center console was added, but he said he didn’t have enough wiring at the time to make the rear connections. He later said he didn’t think he could have made them anyways. Long time friend and I have no reason to doubt him. Suggests?

Welcome to the Forum Michael.
I'm not sure if those rear vents are controlled from the from or from the rear HVAC unit which I'm guessing the PIU doesn't have.

2017 PIU
Does NOT have the duct work. It is a different harness for the wiring!
Same with if you wanted SYNC on the radio; it is a whole new harness

So I would have to connect the duct work to the rear vents (Somehow lol) and then add a harness for the rear control?

From what I have been told by a dealership.

As others have stated, chances are the ducting is not there. The headliners are all built with the vents but they don't go anwhere. If you pull back the rear left quarter trim you will see for sure if the blower is back there. I am willing to bet it is not. If you want to eliminate the temp controller you can replace it with one of these panels which have the option to replace the space with USB charging ports or just a blank panel.

I have a 2016 PIU that was a K9 unit, yes I have an AC unit in the rear which works perfectly and is controlled from my front end. I have purchased a console from a regular explorer that has the AC control and would like to be able to wire it up to be functional. Has anyone been able to do this?
