I had the prorective bumper cover installed by the dealer yesterday. After looking at it I was wondering if I should have had it installed closer to the edge. It may not have looked as nice but likely would better in preventing scratches or nicks to the edge. I'll just have to contibue to be careful in loading and unloading any items. I had the same thing in the same position on my former '09 Highlander and the edge didn't get damaged. You can't tell from the pictures, but the strip does have the word Explorer on it.

How is it attached, glue of some sort?

Self adhesive backing I believe. From a distance I did see the service guy take it out of the box and it had a wider paper backing. Unfortunately I didn't see how he put it on as I was called away by the person at the desk to tell me that their whole computer system went down and they wouldn't be able to print a workorder or bill and that they would give me a call at some later date to straighten out the bill.

it has a template backing on it that has lines to line it up perfectly....unfortunately, my twisted a bit during install, so I have a 1/4" gap on one side, and a 1/8" on the other.
