I am changing rear pads and rotors on a 2011 Explorer for the first time. What direction do I turn the rear caliper piston??? Clockwise like I am installing a bolt??? Or counter-clockwise???

Thank you for the link. But I am still having difficulty getting the piston to retract. I can get it to rotate and have made a couple of complete turns, but the piston doesn't seem to be retracting. Any thoughts???

Twist and push...hard. Make sure you remove the fluid reservoir cap.

^ As per linked instructions.
NOTE:
A moderate to heavy force toward the caliper piston must be applied.

If sufficient force is not applied, the internal park brake mechanism clutch cone will not engage and the piston will not compress.

Got it done! I guess Ford's version of "moderate force" is a lot more than mine. Thanks everyone for the help!
