Hi all,

A few months ago I replaced the suspension on my 2008 Mountaineer with Monroe Quick-Struts and ever since I swear that the rear ride height is significantly higher. It's been bothering me so I went to see what the factory service manual says and it says to take a measurement before removing your existing components. Can someone verify what the rear curb height is? See the image below for how to do that and I appreciate any help with this.

I can measure my 06 explorer tonite when wife gets home if u don't have several responses by then, but a few things to keep in mind...
Your original springs may have been sagging slightly after 9 years on the road and even replacing with the exact spring could raise it up.
I often wondered if the quick struts use different springs based on options such as 3rd row seating, and if not, are they made them with the stiffest version....assuming that the OEM springs were available in different stiffness

Hi, first response to a post for me. I have a 2010 X 4.0 2wd. Measurements are 19.25" in front and 20" in rear. The front shocks look to be Ford. The rear shocks are Monroe. Hope that helps.

So not exactly precise since I'm guessing the center of the center cap and is the tape perfectly level? Anyhow - bone stock 2007 with third row seating and maybe 40 pounds of stuff in the back - 19 and 7/8.
I think you'll see numbers all over the place.

My rears measure 20 on both sides, front driver side 19 1/8, front passenger 19 3/4.
I have the third row seat and just about nothing in the car at this moment

It appears that either I need to make an adjustment or the Quick Struts from Monroe are taller. Mine measures 21 inches in the rear from the center of the center cap to the fender lip.

Thanks for all the replies guys, next will be seeing if I can adjust it lower slightly

I don't know, but I'd guess that my 11 years of hauling kids crap, 3,500 pound camper, bikes, 7 adults on long trips etc has caused my rear springs to loose a tiny bit of height.

The one time I stopped on a truck scale on my way to a campground, I showed about 2,500 lbs on front axle, 4,200 on rear (overweight) and 3,100 on camper axle.

If I were to replace my rears right now, I wouldn't be shocked to see it go up an inch to 21 inches.

I just replaced the front struts with quick struts. The ride has improved. The height on all 4 corners is 20". The X looks so much better like that. Instead of the nose-down look it had. Can't wait to put some more miles on it to compare the ride. Literally just came back from the shop. 2010 v6 2wd.
