I have a 98 explorer. There rear door(hatch) latch started giving me a problem. It some times acts like it is locked, no resistace on the handle when you to to open it. If I take the key and put in the lock and turn it like I am unlocking the door I can catch it in the right spot and can get it open. I have the plastic off and can't see anything wrong inside. I've tried spraying lubicant in it and still no go. What else can I do?

Thanks
Ryan

There is a little spring that could have come off and you would not know it if you never looked at it with all the parts on it. Try to find an exploded view of the latch mechanism on Google image search, it is a small circular/clip spring that pulls the handle/lock lever back. Try to get a telescoping pen magnet and sweep the bottom of your inside lift gate for it.
