I have a 98 sport with a 3.73 open in the rear and i was wondering are there any compatable rear end carriers that i could pull such as mustang/f150 etc that would be a direct bolt in for a limited slip/ locker setup. OR>>>>>>besides another explorer rear end are there any other complete direct bolt up rear ends to fit mine w/o huge mods

If you swap carriers you have to re-setup the gears. If you want an easy install locker, get an aussie locker for the open carrier. It's just a little harder than changing brakes, doesn't require setting up gears.
I'm not sure of what other 31 spline 8.8 axles might be out there.

will the aussie locker give me a posi or limited slip diff?

Posi & Limited Slip are the same thing. Different names. Posi/LS use steel plates, and clutches to make both wheels turn at the same time, while the steel plates and clutches also slip JUST ENOUGH to not make any noise while driving through turns.

An Aussie Locker will actually mechanically lock the left and right axles together, so it may be a little noisy when turning.
