Buffalo, thanks for all the help & pics! Sorry for the slow response- I usually get emails when someone replies, but I didn't this time around for some reason. Anyways, I took some pics of mine as well. I was able to play with it a bit this weekend, as I had to re-attach the upper-right hinge that came off the rear window (which was great fun to fix). I was able to open the window afterwards by just nudging the latch towards the open position.
I think the main problem now is that there is just a bit too much play in it. I stuffed a piece of cloth on the back of it (red arrow) to reduce the vibration for now, but I need to look at it again to see if that is the main source, or if the window arm also needs re-padded to fill the latch completely (the cloth piece that wraps it fell off). It will help if I can look at another one, to see which areas can afford play and how much. I'll try to check out my neighbors or something.
