Well I have some REALLY powerful woofers(so powerful, I've been pulled over because of them) in the back of my '97 XLT.. Well, I've noticed this really embarrassing rattling noise from my hatch from the vibration of the woofers.. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced it and fixed it!?

any help will be helpful! thanks! :)

is it the glass or the whole hatch rattling?

I replaced the plastic things that go around the striker bolts and it helped dramatically.
they're like 3 bucks for 4 of them at any autoparts store in the HELP! section.

My back hatch latch doesn't work so well for the reasons you mention. The rattle is bad, but I don't notice it too much.

It's mostly the glass (I tested it a couple minutes ago) and a LITTLE for the actual hatch, my handle doesn't work when I try to open just the glass for some stupid reason, so I don't know what to do with that either lol

Ha! Thats what mine does too! I have trouble turning my key sometimes, and the automatic unlock doesn't always unlock either. Sometimes I have to press it a few times.

As for the glass, I've noticed wiggling it back and forth with some pressure usually works, otherwise opening the hatch itself helps for some reason.

Lol, I can literally turn my handle ALL the way to the left (the way you turn it to open the glass) and it wont do anything, also, my hatch doesnt lock, so I'm scared my woofers are gonna get stolen.. even though im in a TINY ass town

i took the rear wiper off when i had subs. huge difference....

are you talking about the rubber the glass rests on?

I am putting 3 layers of Fatmat on mine today..Along with the rest of the truck. I will let you know what it does.

what are you putting the fat mat on? the edge of the glass or surrounding the weather stripping
