Rear heated seat issue

Having an issue with one side for the rear heated seats in our 2016 Explorer Limited. When attempting to turn-on the rear passenger heated seat, the light quickly flashes then goes off and the seat does not heat up. Left side works as normal.

Anyone had this issue and resolved it? Thinking it may be a broken element in the seat and will be looking for a way to test.

having the same exact issue. I’ve search this forum and the jnternet for someone replacing the element, but none seem to be for the 5th Gen Explorer. Anyone have a wiring diagram or pin out for the the wiring harness under the rear passenger bucket that I can use to ohm out the element? Having trouble finding a part number for the element too. Mines probably been dead a while as I never sit back there and the kids just ignore stuff like that

Well, I am still here , and still an Explorer owner. We now have a 2018 Sport and the rear heated seats have stopped working. On the 2016, the dealer replaced the seat element on the affected side. On our 2018, neither seat is working which make me wonder if the issue is with a control module somewhere. Just not sure how this system works. Anyone have a diagram or anything for the rear heated seat system?

Nothing yet. I recently got Forscan back up and running so planning on scanning the Explorer to see if it shows anything.

Ended up taking it to the dealer. They replaced the element under the seat. I also had an intermittent airbag warning light on. They didn't do anything to fix that. Said something about the SRS and rear heated seats harnesses being connected somehow. They "couldn't reproduce it" so they didn't fix the SRS light. I told them next time it pops up I'll swing by. I did, and and they wanted me to leave it for them to look at. I know that meant a week of not having a car again, so I just laughed and walked out. Been about a year and now the same exact thing happening. RH Rear Heated seat inoperative. SRS light intermittent. Downloaded a 10,000 page manual from a thread here and saw where the inflatable seatbelt restraint is part of the troubleshooting procedure for RH Rear Heated seat specifically. I still have a warranty for another 5000 miles/6 months, so going back to the dealer/hack shop. Was going going to do some serious homework first so I can rebut the BS they'll probably try to sell me on why they can't fix it again. Troubleshooting seems to get to a point where I needed a very high-end diag tool and thats what I stopped. I'll update on any final resolution. Never buying another Ford. between the couple of issues, dealership warranty service, and having had much better experience with other brands, they've convinced me to Explore other MFG's.

The cause in some cases for the airbag light coming ON is the connector under the driver's seat. That has been mentioned in a few posts. Also, when the warning light is ON, the system may be inoperable in case of a crash.

I too cannot figure this out. I just happened to unplug the quick connect under the seat tonight and noticed there’s a pin missing. If you look at yours, do you have that pin?
