Hello All.
Just curious if anybody has bought rear leaf springs from JC Whitney.
I put in the usual info (98/Merc/Mountaineer) and it came back with "leaf springs for trailers". First question... will any double-eye leaf spring with the correct capacity (I'm guessing 3000lb since that's the rear GVWR) and the correct spacing work? They're $36 each... so makes me want to consider it.
Also, I typically carry about 400lbs of stuff in the cargo area and usually tow a trailer with a 300lb tongue weight. I'd like the truck to be level when loaded. With this type of load, will the truck stay level with fresh springs, or do I need a heavier capacity spring (such as 3750lb or 4500lb rated version)?
I'm not trying to lift the rear, though from everything I've found it seems this would be a lot easier it I was.
Thanks in advance for your help!
