I am in the process of lubing the slip yoke on my '95 XLT rear driveshaft. Upon removing the shaft I noticed that the rear seal on the transfer case is bad. I got a new seal and I am now attenpting to remove the output shaft nut, washer, rubber seal, and rear flange. The problem is that I can't get the nut to budge! I tried an impact gun with no success, I have sprayed it with penetrating oil more than once, and I am afraid to torque too hard on it by hand for fear of breaking something inside the transfer case. Can anyone Help? Is the nut reverse thread? I give up.

If it is going to snap, it isn't safe to drive anyway. Don't remember mine taking that much force but I used a 2" pipe extension to get it off. Check for up down play. Some of these housings wear where the bearing mounts and that causes the seal to leak.

Thanks! I got it using an extension. It was really on there. Just finished the job. Thanks for the timely reply.
