I found this, if it's correct:

"You have the drum in hat assembly( or hat in drum, forgot how they
called it), which is the E-brakes sitting inside the rotors. You need
to turn the adjusting star on the back of the rotor assembly so the
e-brakes can retract thus clearing the rotor so you can pull them out.
Its a similiar setup to the old drum brakes. Usually you need just a
screwdriver to stick into the back slot to turn the star."

Do you need to remove the rotor to replace the stud? Usually you can smack the stud out without having to mess with much else.

with the 3rd gen there really is no slot, its actually a knock-out (similar to the electrical boxes). About a quarter size near the bottom center of the dust shield. I used a punch and took a few good hits with a 2lb sledge.
After that shine a flashlight up there and you should see the 'Star', it might be above and a little forward/rearward of the hole depending on which side your one. And the hole is to remove the stud when you get there.

another thing when doing the rears i had to also redo the parking brake as the shoe sheered off the backing when i took the rotor off, the thing was full of rust by the way.

well the car went in the shop today for an ignition problem, and i guess they thought they needed to fix the stud anyway
