hey guys, replacing rear shocks today. once i had them removed from the frame i found out that all that holds the top of the shock to the frame is a small tube of metal with some small screws to either side. short of burning that mount out of the old shock and putting it in the new shock, how am i supposed to get the new one in there?

The new shock should come with a new "flattened tube".

youre right it did. but the problem is the same: the tube with flat ends has open rings for the screws vs the closed rings the factory tubes were on. i still cant find a way to put those tubes through the new bushing without damaging anything. is brute force he method here, just shoving it though, or is are there any tricks i dont know about?

Assuming I'm picturing your description correctly : It shouldn't matter whether or not the "rings" are closed or not because having two bolts through them should minimize latteral play since the bolts are on each end.

ok we will see how this goes. got the old axle out, new one with discs ready to go in. illl try to post up some pics tonight.
