Rear Speaker Access...

Someone please help, I am trying to replace my factory rear speakers with some 6x8's, but I am not seeing how to get to them, the little plastic piece over the factory speakers doesn't seem to just pop off, is there an easier way to get to it? Any help or pics would be appreciatted........... I have the 2003 Sport version.....

I would think that grill would just pop off, keep working it. If worse comes to worse take off the whole panel.

yeah, may have to do that, I can't see where the little cover thing pops off, idealy it should, but oh well, will look more closely when I next have the chance to do so..... thanks

Search for 'how to replace rear speakers' or something like that. Black Magic actually has a write up for replacing rear speakers in Sports. The grille does pop off, just take a screw driver and apply downward pressure to the top of the grille and pull out. it will pop loose from the plastic. Heck, i usually just use a key to get it out.

I just did this yesterday, when I returned my truck to stock form. Got rear ended by a drunk driver on Monday so the truck has to go to the body shop.

All you have to do is use your fingers and push down (toward the floor) firmly on the top edge of the grille near the middle. It should pop right out without scratching or bending it. Then you need a 5.5mm socket or nut-driver to get the speaker screws out.
