Hello any and all.

I have a peculiar problem. My rear seat speakers are not playing any audio whatsoever. This is a late 06 (4th gen) limited that used to have a ceiling mounted FES (which now is missing). Any idea as to why only the rear speakers are off? (and how to correct)

The front audio system is the one with 6CD changer.

Any help is appreciated :)

Not sure what the FES (some kind of entertainment system?)is, but first I would check the fader and make sure it's not turned all the way to the front, then I would probably remove the rear door panels and look at the speaker wiring, and if they look connected, I would pull the head unit and check for continuity in the wiring. A Haynes manual has wiring diagrams that could help. It helped me trace a bad tail light wire. Hope that helps.

FES=Ford Entertainment System?? I don't know. :D This is good advice, though.

It may have had something to do with the FES being removed (why was it removed anyways?) Like someone else mentioned, I would start with the basics such as balance and fade because sometimes it's the simplest things that are the problem. If you have a reputable car stereo place around too, you can always see if they can diagnose it. Im sure there is a chance you don't even have speakers back there. If the FES was removed, maybe someone had an aftermarket in there and they took the speakers too. That being the case, they may have had a different head unit as well and they just tossed the factory back in when they sold the car and never took the time to hook everything back up properly..assuming you bought it used. Good Luck!

This head unit has the ability to play just the "DRIVER" (front ) speakers or the 'REAR' or "ALL", which is selectable in the "MENU". Check the settings, you probably have "DRIVER " selected which will play only the front speakers

Still searching...

First of all, thanks for the tips guys :)

I have now tried the following:
Fader Controls
Speaker Selection in menu (Rear/Driver/All)

No joy thus far.

The FES (Family Entertainment System) was OEM from ford and ceiling mounted over rear seats. This had broken down at the time I purchased the car, and was therefore missing.

Guess I have to take it to the pro's...
