My Dad has a '99 Ranger 4WD, and the rear springs have sagged over the years. I would like to replace them, and possibly gain 1-2 inches of lift over stock (and do the TT up front.)

I'd rather not go for custom springs, not 63" Chevy springs, not an additional block.

One thought is a set of new FX4 Level II springs (which I think are equivalent to towing package springs.)

Any thoughts or suggestions?

....Have you thought about taking them to a spring shop and having them re-arched...:dunno:

No, I hadn't. That is a good thought.

Do you know of any good spring shops in the northern LA area? I'll be out there before Christmas, and hope to get this done while I am there.

Oh, and volunteer help needed!

Level II leaf springs are code C and they are the heaviest factory Ranger spring pack available. Depending on a lot of factors, the C's may also be present on other Rangers, especially 4x4's and even some 4x2's with Payload Package II.

If you are junkyard shopping, check the Spring Code on the Cert label on the driver door or jamb. The first number or numbers is the front suspension code, the second is for the rear. For example, my Level II is 1C; later Rangers use a doubled code and the equivalent would be 11CC. The C or CC is what you care about for the rears.

Obviously, a pampered, newer, low miles donor would be the best bet to avoid another case of the sags with the replacement springs.

True.

Given the limited amount of time I will be at my folk's house, I was hoping to not have to go junkyard shopping. I'd rather have a solution (and maybe new springs) when I get there.

...As Rwenzing mentioned, a junkyard pack, or a new pack would be the quickest, easiest, for a time constraint...Sometimes when getting springs re-arched, it can take a week or two before you get them back...:(...You might get a set at home and bring them out here...:dunno:

...As for volunteers, I'm sure there will be some and if you by chance get down by Disneyland, I could help you out and have tools and a spot to swap them...;)
