Hello,
So I am working on my beat up 03 Explorer XLT that I bought to learn how to work on vehicles. The current issue I am faced with is replacing the rear struts.
The top three mounting nuts on both left and right side of the vehicle are rusted and rounded to all get out. So I figured I would try to cut through the nut and stud with a hack saw. That worked, and I got through them but I do not think I got through all the threads and there is some left holding them in.
Unfortunately I cut them about flush to the surface of the vibration dampener and on the back side that I cannot cut anymore off. I am at a loss of what to try next. I do not have access to a torch unfortunately to melt them sons of guns out, but do have access to other various power tools.
Any help I would tremendously appreciate it. Pictures attached to show my current cut off stud situation and screw up.
Thank you!
