Rear suspension question

A quick question about the leaf springs on my 92 X....are the shackles in the rear of the spring supposed to be straight up and down? Mine are at a 45 deg angle...if I straighten them, will they stay, and will it compensate for some of my sag?

They are sloped from the factory. That allows the spring to flatten out and move rearward as it flexes.
