hi, i was wondering if i could swap a 98-2001 tailgate onto my 97 xlt. they look the same, minus the little knob to open the tailgate. does anyone know?? thanks

the tail lights were a little diffrent, but it should fit... expect latch problems

98-01 hatches will bolt up..i will be doing this when i find a hatch..that's the hardest part..you will need 98-01 tail light's also but it's a bolt up thing..nothing more..well alittle wireing

and there's NO latch problem's..will latch right up

Yes, it will bolt up but you will have problems with looks and clearance around the taillights and you may have slight leaks around the weatherstripping.
