I just took possesion of a nice 2001 sport trac and 1 problem i have is the rear window is inoperable.
When I got it it was closed and wouldn't open. I searched tis forum and found directions on how to initialize the smart motor. I guess the motor is smarter than me ! I did get it to open all the way and now it won't close, with tornado warnings in the area ! Taking a chance & taking the cover from 69 camaro to cover ST.

Anyway I have always been a nuts & bolts person, due to retire and these new fangled this seem to get the best of me.

I have been through the inialization procedure several time to no avail. Tried it without opening door and tried it by opening & closing door. Got it to open by opening & closing door, now it won't close, can hear click in motor when I try to open it, even though its all the way open, hear nothing when I try to close it.

Looking for more suggestions, could it be a bad switch & how do I check it?

Thanks In Advance

David

Found the problem by subscribing to Alldata for the Ford Sport Trac.
Would recommend it to anyone in need of help.

Problem is in smart motor, would only run 1 way. Switch checked OK with Ohm meter. VT/LG grounds when switch is in up, VT/LB grounds with switch in down, TN/BK wire grounded when switch in vent. Took motor out, after initialization, motor would run in down once and then would have to be initialized again, with it in regulator there was no where to go.

Closed window by hand, now looking for new motor.

Thank You
