Asking for a favor,

Can someone please take a pic of the rear quarter panel (both sides of the car) showing where the lower right(and left) sides of the rear trunk glass meats up with the rounded black peices(for lack of a better term). I noticed last night after further inspecting the job Safelite did on replacing my broken glass that the new glass is pushed up further and the bottom edge doesnt line up with the plastic edge pieces on the rear sides. I am trying to determine if that was normal OR if the glass is supposed to line up. Doesn't really look bad but just one of those things... I want it to be how it was before ...

Thanks

I didn't photograph it but a straight-edge shows maybe 1/64" difference. It almost lines up perfectly. Beyond that yours looks to have really rounded edges while the factory glass is almost a perfect point. I know, too much use of the word perfect, but...

What you have is an aftermarket window. Opinion/experience here but they suck. Typically low quality products compared to OEM.

You need to contact them and first indicate you are unhappy with both the glass and the install. Make it clear you expected OEM glass, were led to believe that's what you were getting and you insist on it. Some will take care of it without much fight and others will not.

FYI the top of the glass is higher than the edge wrap around/side corner pieces on mine.

I can take pix if you need. LMK.

Insurance companies today accept after market parts and the pay for them. I have heard that when you ask for oem the insurance company will pay for after mkt you will have to pay the difference for oem. I dont know how true that is but my friend owns a body shop and i have heard from him that that is the practice today....! If you did it thru your insurance call them and ask them about that.
PS. BUT IF THE WIPER BLADE HOLE LINED UP IT COULD BE RIGHT, JUST THAT YOU ARE NOW LOOKING INTO IT DEEPER..

Mine looks similar but I noticed my OEM glass looks more square on the corners compared to yours that seems to be rounded up which accentuates the uneven look.

Thanks for checking it out - I cannot say I actually was expecting and/or told I would receive OEM glass. So far as I can tell, optically I don't notice any strange distortions or problems looking through from the rear view mirror or looking into the car from outside... tint shade seems to match as well. So at least at this point, not really concerned about a lack of quality difference as I would be if this were a windshield...

Good thought, I didn't think about the whole for the wiper. Not sure there is much wiggle room anyway if that is the case. I paid out of pocket for this - my deductible is $1500, so I'll likely stick to a not so OEM option unfortunately.

Thanks for taking a pic. I am definitely going to go back to the shop tomorrow and show them the problem. Hopefully its something as simple as simply removing and lowering the glass the fraction of an inch to make it all line up. If that were fixed I don't think the "more rounded" edges would really bother me.

Thanks guys for looking into it with me!

What does the top look like? Is the spoiler in the correct position vs. the roof line?

I doubt they can do anything if the top is correctly positioned.

You have got to be kidding me!
