Hey everyone,

I have been trying to put in a new/junkyard cable for my LR window regulator assembly for two evenings now. I am having a problem getting the cable to wind back up into the housing correctly, it keeps getting jammed inside the roller. I'm about to give up and switch to a 95-01 set up. I've searched and can't find any info besides switching to the newer set up. Has anyone had this same problem or have any tips or advice? Thanks!

When mine went, I avoided winding the cable by buying a used assembly complete, at the junk yard for 12 bucks. I had too drill the rivets out and use 1/4 inch bolts with kep nuts when I reassembled it. The cable looks nasty to rewind, good luck with it.

ive messed with trying to wind them things up in various vehicles, it just wont work. even when it is wound up,it wont work lol.. last time i tried, i got it wound up,hit the button and the cable snapped! its a "push - pull " type of deal,so the cable is wrapping 2 different ways on the pulley thing.

itll be easier to go to the wrecking yard and get a used regulator for cheap, swap the whole thing and not worry about it! the 91-94 set up is fine in my opinion , most the time its just the motors or "gear plugs" that go bad..

Hmmmm..... I think I'll upgrade mine. My motors still work, pretty sure the bushings are beyond shot, as they just make noise w/ no window movement.

I wedge the windows up every so often and vibration wiggles 'em back down.

Until I read the link I didn't know there was an upgrade. Thanks Tbars4

..Happy to share what i got..:biggthump

Wow, thanks Tbars4! I'ver read through that thread and must have skipped over that post.. I'll see what I can do to make it work :)

I'm going to look at that upgrade too. I have a pair of 1st Gens (91 and 92) and both have blown the cable on the left rear.

I got so irritated last week that I bought a matching door and just swapped it yesterday to get the window working.

Guess I shoulda been reading instead of working so hard.

After I thought about it I bet my rear cables are shot... I have yet to pull off the door panels to check.

I've been shimmying the windows up for about a year now.... I told my wife about the JY conversion, she seemed happy about that.... so maybe this weekend I can knock that project out. Or at least get the motors.

The only thing left (that I consider a major project) would be replacing the bushings in my front window motors.

I too bought the upgraded one that TBARS4 shows. Funny how the 'new' regulator is really a step backwards.
This 'new' Arm and Gear setup is the way they used to do it when they started adding Power to Window regulators. Take out the Crank handle and put a motor in its place.
