Ok, so I have to replace the rear window trim due to cracked, I have an 03 explorer 4 door and seems to be a constant issue. I was thinking about just removing the trim and buffing the window up to clean.... thoughts on this and if anyone has already done this could you please post pics so I can see what it looks like.

Did you ever find a solution to the cracked trim problem? I have the same problem with my 2004.

I called a friend who works parts at a local Ford dealership and he dais it happens all the time on Explorers and Mountaineers. He had two people come in the day before I called him!

The trim is attached with a couple pieces of double sided adhesive tape. You have to pry off the piece. If you open the rear window and look at the bottom of the trim piece, you'll see a small opening on the right and left side of the window. Stick a long screwdriver or small pry bar into the holes to force the trim piece off.

They get brittle over time and slamming the rear door causes them to crack. The part is about $140 and then you have to get it painted to match so figure another $100 for that.

Do you know of any place on the web to get the replacement part?

can I take the trim off and the car look ok? It sounds like there are holes that wont allow this to happen is that correct?

it looks like there is a bracket on the outside of the window underneath the panel.... so probably would not look good just taken off then.... Thanks for the video, please let me know if you confirm this or decide there is another option.

This was a convenient post. The 04 Eddie I just bought has the rear window trim piece loose on the passengers side. I was wondering if I pried it off if it could be put back on with JB Weld? I don't want to pay for a new since just one side is loose... However I have incredibly little experience with the stuff.
