Rear Windshield Wiper

I ordered this arm from Ford Parts Network. Here is the info:

XL2Z-17526-AA $ 29.99

Freight $ 7.99

To order :

My new wiper arm arrived yesterday. I removed the old one and installed the new arm. This takes about 2 minutes. Installed a new 15 inch wiper blade and gave it a test wipe. So far so good; wipes almost all of the window.

Al:

After reading this thread, I also contacted Torrie at fordpartsnetwork and was about to buy this part. What do you mean by "wipes almost all of the window". I did the 'arm bending fix' mentioned elsewhere in this forum and the best I could do was get it to wipe 'almost all of the window'. I was hoping a new arm would work 100%.....so now I'm not sure whether to go for it. Also, can you confirm that the new arm has the 'AB' stamped on it as mentioned in the TSB. Thanks.

Lee

I am pleased so far. However, with a little tweaking of the arm, I believe it will do the entire window.

Is the OEM wiper on '98+ 15"?

Please 'tweak away' and report back. If you are satisfied I will go ahead and order it. Thanks,

Not sure of the other years, but my '99 is 15. I imagine that the others are too.

Just returned from a 1400 mile trip with lots of rain. The rear wiper performed flawlessly with 100% coverage.

The tweak was to move the part of the arm assembly that fits in the support about 1/2 inch to the left ( when facing it from the rear ). This took quite a few blows with a hammer. Now I have to use some black paint to cover the area wher the arm "was"; its silver now.

Will post a pic tomorrow.

The silver part in the picture is where I had to move the arm. I will be painting it to match the remainder of the arm shortly.

Al:

Why was it necessary to move that part....did it not seat properly in the park position or did it somehow effect the wiping action of the arm? I would have thought that it being a ford replacement part it would have fit right on.

Also can you confirn the 'AB' is stamped on the arm as per the TSB.

Thanks,

Lee

It would not park properly without the move.

I didn't check to see if the arm was marked AB; I shall when I get it back from a friend later today.

Ever since i bought my car the wiper hasn't hit the whole window. I tryed the bending and it never really worked that well. I got on here and saw the TSB on the wiper arm and went to the local ford place and bought the replacement arm with the AB on it. Works great..very tight against the window. I never realized how nice it was to be able to see out the back window when its rains. For good measure i bought a new wiper blade. I paid 39.99...beacause i didn't wanna wait to have it shipped from ford parts network.
