Rear wiper acting funny

If I turn on the from inside the vehicle I does nothing, but if I leave it on and go around back and help it get started it will operate through all the speeds. Can anyone suggest what may be keeping it from initiating? It's not starting out and then hanging up on the glass like some have had happen. Thanks

Rear wiper problem.

I have a 98 ford Explorer XLT. I replaced rear wiper motor and rear wiper control switch. But rear wiper still does not work !!:exp:
