rear wiper comes on randomly

I have a 91 explorer eddie baur and My rear wiper wipes automatically when I hit the brakes slowing down. Is this happening to anyone else. It won't come on in a stopped position. Just when I am driving and then come to a stop. It happens evertime.

Is there a short with my anti-lock brake system??

On my 93 EB, when I turn on the rear wiper, it takes 1 swipe, and then stops for awhile, then goes. Its all messed up.

My rear wiper goes across when I first turn it on, then does nothing. The next time I turn the key on it goes back to its home position. I haven't had time to screw with it yet. As cold as its been I'll probably take it to the shop the next time it needs regular service and have them fix it.

ya, mine will get stuck althe way over about a third of the times i turn it on. a few minutes later it goes back to its rest position. BTW- does anyone know if there is a way to add a delay feature to the rear wiper on the older explorers? i know the new wons have and i would love to have this feature on mine.

I got in a rear end accident and had my tail gate replaced. All of a sudden the wiper would come on if i hit any type of bump. I finally disconnected the motor. I later hooked it back up and have had no more problems.

Rear window wiper delay

Tac0meat, I asked a Ford Dealer about the delay switch for the rear window wiper a few years ago (95 maybe?) and they said they didn't have one and weren't familiar with anyone who made them. It could be there is one available now as an aftermarket item, but I haven't looked very hard for it. If you find it (or hear of who has it) please let me know. It would be nice to have.

i have seen kits that will put a delay on front windshield wipers for cars that didnt have a delay available from jc whitney, i would like to use that on the rear one but dont knoe if i would run into trouble because of the washer controll being on the same switch as the wiper controll
