Searching has betrayed me. Is there anyone who sells a kit to rebuild the one currently on the vehicle? I can find complete units for $850+, but I can't find the parts to do it (or have a friend do so).

Thanks, imp. Is there a good source for the viscous clutches? That is my main concern, though the kit you listed is now bookmarked.

Sorry, Inf.; I would have to search on viscous clutch, my dial-up service far too slow to allow the extravagance! However, what little I know about the AWD system suggests that if all 4 tires have been kept same size, to avoid the clutch having to dissipate lots of heat a long time, they are pretty long-lived units. I suspect that if the vehicle "digs in" on a gravel road pretty well, without much tire spin, AND if the T.C. fluid appears to not have been run real hot (dark, stinky, burnt appearance), and no unusual noise is being generated, the clutch is probably still serviceable.

Sorry I can't be of more help.....imp

I'll check it, but I'm nearly positive the clutches are shot. The tires are terrible. I hope to unhook the front driveshaft, then work on some stuff to make sure it's all fixed, then hook it all back up.

Some guy found these:

Hope you don't need a chain too. . .$200 alone, kit is $150, no idea on a viscous although i wouldn't be surprised if its $400 or so. So for $750 you can rebuild it how much for a Reman?? Only about $100 off someone else doing it. . .might come with warranty?

Sounds like I'm better off ordering a full unit. DAMN these things are high dollar.
