"Rebuilt" A4LD feels weak from a dead start, and has a 3-4 shift shudder. Just doesn't feel right, like it's always slipping a bit or like it's pulling a trailer.

Torque converter is claimed to be new and stall speed is verified to be good. Seems to lock and unlock properly. I adjusted bands and changed fluid.

On a recent road trip (long drive, then immediately into 100+ degree heat stop/go traffic on steep hills), despite auxiliary fluid cooler it got hot and acted like it didn't want to go into 1st gear. Once cooled off it acted right.

Shift timing is good and shifts are solid except for the 3-4 shudder, fluid doesn't get burnt or black. No shift delays or anything so I do think it's been rebuilt, but doesn't feel right. Since the "rebuild" it has driven about 4000 miles. I need it to be able to complete a 3000 mile road trip in October.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Mine has the same problem if I put the shifter into OD. If I put it into 1, 2, or D, 1st gear is fine. I don't have time to figure it out and I am not going to rebuilt it again.

Not very helpful... Lol

Mine does not act like that, it occurs in first gear regardless of shifter position.
