recall question

i'm getting a 97 probably on tuesday this week. and she has had most of the recalls done on it but she has yet to have the cam tensioner recall on it done....she bought it from a dealer in another state... it is still under the 6 year, 70,000 mile warranty. I was wondering if i could take it to the local ford dealer and have the recall done on it..or if i had to go back to the orignal dealer

You can take it to any dealership of your choosing. The only problem I could possibly see is if they didn't have the kit, they would have to order it... but its so common I bet they do.

As long as its free ...and if i can do it locally thats cool

she bought it in November of 1997. So it should still be covered until Nov of this year

Since the cam tensioer noise issue isn't a recall, your dealer is supposed to verify that the problem exists before they are to replace them. If your engine is still nice and quiet, they aren't likely to replace your tensioners.
