I'm looking for any info I can get on the re-circulation door.

Mine appears to not be working. I can't get it to open/close. I have the EATC on a 98 eddie bauer.

I would say it is closed right now but I'm not sure that is the right term. It is pulled in close to the interior and I can push it towards the firewall by hand.

I checked the vacuum lines (black/white) that run below it and they have suction present.

if it is closed, you should only be getting air through the dash vents. that's the MAX A/C setting. there is a test procedure for the EATC (Goggle it) although i didn't find it helpful in my case. the internals of the EATC consist of small solenoid valves that direct vacuum to the appropriate door motor. the solenoid valves have tiny o-rings inside them which can leak if worn. you can also have a bad door motor/actuator. the "blend door" is a common problem and there are quick fixes and fixes that pretty much require removing the dash. the blend door has to do with controlling heat. i haven't read any similar posts indicating the recirculation door can break in the same way.

I did run the EATC trouble codes. Looks like I have an actuator short. Would the actuator have any control over the re-circulation door?

if the related solenoid inside the EATC isn't working vacuum will not be supplied to the related door motor. the motors work strictly on vacuum. used EATC's are available on ebay and typically run around $100, which is about the same as the cost of getting your old one repaired.

Did you find any useful diagrams or parts numbers on the recirculation door? Or any threads on repair? there seem to be 1000 threads and websites about the blend door and zero about the recirculation door. mine also is having trouble. any help would be useful. thanks!

@Javier B

Just throwin' this out there - maybe the LINKED repair guide & repair video will help with the proper operation of your Re-circulation Door???

Looks doable but a little tedious - definitely NOT a rush job - BUT only around $2.50 in parts (Pack of 100 qty is the cheapest - LOL)
Seems worth a try :chug: Hope This Helps!

Alas, my 95 is not ETAC but regular controls. I'm pretty sure its just the actuator thats failed, but I can't really find any threads or vids that deal with that recirc door. cant even find the part number for it. :-(

@Javier B

Just sayin' - It might help you to exit this thread, and start over with a dedicated "HVAC Recirculation Door Function Not Working" thread.

The title to this thread is kind of "bare", and the "meat & bones" deals with an ETAC HVAC System

Hope that helps & good luck!
