I am sure I just insulted someone. Here are some pics of a safari rack I just finished building from recycled/re-purposed material. The only thing I purchased was the paint, which was actually leftover from when I painted my factory rims flat black.

I like it, but keep an eye on the rail to roof mounts. My Explorer's roof started cracking around the rail bolt holes from the added weight of a Hi-Lift on one side.

Thanks, was not really sure of what I wanted when I started building it. Just kinda made things up as I went along.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I tried to make sure that I had the majority of the weight centered side to side. I will keep an out out for cracking and customize the mounting if need be.
