remote central locking problem

Hi i recently purchased a Ford Explorer 1998 it has central locking from inside the car, so i purchased a remote for the central locking, but i cant seem to get it to work.


I have tried the instructions that i got, turning from off to on 8 times but my locks dont cycle, can anyone help??

just because you have lock/unlock buttons on your vehicle, doesn't mean you have a "remote locking/unlocking module". You have to check to see if you have a module normally in the rear quarter panel.

Yes, it is behind the jack panel on the left side of vehivcle. Take off the panel and look forward; the Remote Access Personality (RAP) module will be there next to a box of relays. There will be a 5 digit number on it that works with the door keypad if you have one.
