Anyone ever try to install one of these on a 2nd gen. 4.0L explorer? I have one and I am wondering how hard they are to install, but also how much would it be to have one installed by like Circuit City or something of that nature.

Well I got my remote start system for free, I was just wondering how much it'd be just to have it installed correctly? 100 maybe?

If you have to ask, you can't afford it. ;)

Yeah I installed my Bulldog Deluxe 62I Remote start in my car, probly took me 5-6 hours to install. I had to also buy a bypass kit where you have to buy another replacement transponder key and put it in so that when you remote start your car, it will think you have your key in the ignition so it will start. If you dont put that in, your car will just crank and never start.

If you plan on installing it on your own, I would reccommend going to www.bulldogsecurity.com and getting your wiring diagram there. Hard part is just locating the wires. Oh yeah and be prepared to have aching parts of your body since your positioned in an odd way for a long time.

As for installation by a store, I dunno how much it'll be but probly in the neighborhood around 100-200 if you didnt purchase it there I suppose.

Not all remote starts require the dummy PATS key. If you haven't ever wired something in(like a HU and subs) I'd be leary of trying something like this. There are tons of wires on these things. Most audio shops here will sell, and install one for $139, so install shouls be under $100

Alright, cool. I can deal with that. I have wired up headunits and subs before - but I'm not too comfortable with the ignition system itself. I do plan on wiring up some L.E.D. underbodies soon with my courtesy lights, so when I unlock my doors they will act as puddle lights. But I need a transmission temperature gauge real soon, so thats going to be my first expense. I actually need the remote start - because it gets a nice chill in Virginia during 7 AM trying to start your car and go to school/work. I usually let it sit for 3-5 minutes, but I'm usually shaking in my shoes and already late - so I feel this will save time and is well worth it. Thanks everyone!
