For some long time ive been ignoring the fact that my remote starter/door unlockerthingy hasnt been working right. I finnaly got a new battery and tried it, locks work fine, but the engine wont turn over. The starter will make a clunk noise and nothing happens after. the locks work fine though.

Any help would be nice :)
thanks.

thats a pretty weird problem, it sounds like there is not enuf power getting to your remote starter unit. especially on the explorer they recommend getting power directly from the battery.

OOPS

i wasnt detailed enough bout that sorry
updated:
-battery was replaced in truck and on the remote(remote recently)
-Ford installed the remote system

anyways i was told that the remote is not telling the starter to stay on long enough, anyway to find out?

thanks

I had a Prestige that did the same thing. The cure was I had to change the 30 amp fuse and holder. Seems a little corrosion was the culprit and not enough power was going through the system.

hard start starter

Hi, I just installed a remote starter in my '94. Because mine is a little hard to start to begin with I had to set my remote starter to crank in what the manufacturer calls "tach mode". That is, a wire from the remote starter unit is spliced into the tach wire and senses when the vehicle is actually started then disengages the starter command. My model is from bulldog security. Maybe your's has the same feature. Hope this helps.

hmm thanks for the help, i never considered the fuses, or the different modes for it, hell i cant even find out what wiring is for the system. some crappy mechanic had his way with our truck, luckly the boss of the mechanic fired him :D.
