i got a remote starter kit for christmas, and i was wondering if anyone has tried installing one of these on a second gen? it also has the door lock/unlock to replace my FOB remote that i already have. It actually has a button for the headlights on it too, although i'm not really that worried about having that work, since my auto headlights turn on when i start the car if it's dark anyway.

anyone have any suggestions/comments/experience? the last thing i want to do is have to pay to have it installed, because i heard having these things installed costs a fortune. todd.

Someone here will chime in and give you the diagram for the Ex, take your instructions and write on them what wires you need(EG for " To lights" write red with white stripe in headlight harness, etc) And if you are not a retard :D it should go easy.

It depends on the kit you bought or got as a gift. Since you don't have a PATS system, it should be pretty simple.

retard isn't the preferred nomenclature, it's mentally challenged, please.

Pats?

That Passive Anti-theft system.. Wait you have a 96.. your not affected.

this starter kit actually has some kind of built in alarm, which is pretty handy. i think it just has a motion sensor type deal, but it has a siren/horn. it's called "ready remote" by "designtech". todd.

I installed mine in a couple hours, it was easy.

Right.

haha, it's a big lebowski quote

I installed one in a few hours. The starter part was not that bad to install, but the hooking up of the door locks was a different story. I ended up not hooking them up, so I have 2 key fobs in the winter, but it is not big deal.

see, thats what i was trying to avoid by getting the starter with the door locks on it. i don't want to have two FOB's, as lugging around all my keys and one fob is enough for me. todd.
