I have a 96 explorer LIMITED. I want to remove the body side molding which I am guessing is only help on with tape??? just like my 93 mustang. I want to upgrade to the thin 99-00 limited side moldings.

I was wondering if I take the molding off... are there holes under it that the newer body molding will not cover??? I know on my stang there are a few 1" holes under the molding for no purpose....

I removed the body side mouldings on my 91 and there were no holes underneath. They were held on with double sided adhesive tape. Just get one corner lifted up and pulled them off. It helps if it is warm outside. Then you have to remove the tape and glue. I used 3M adhesive cleaner, which works great, many body shops use it. It's safe on the paint. After that, I used some polishing compound on the whole area to make everything look seamless, it was very dirty under where the mouldings were.

i have the running boards and there was holes for that.

What did you do to fill in those holes? my 94 has the same thing. I wanted to remove the running boards for more clearance, but the holes are quite nasty looking. I was considering fiberglass, but if there is some other "cover" for them, That would be easier, I'd like to know.

MOTO MIKE-

if you are talking about the line of holes on the lower rockers once the running boards or side skirts are removed... Explorer Express makes a rocker kit cover. Its $59.95.
