Hi. This question is in regards to "jamming" the crankshaft to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt. How do you go about stopping the crank from turning while you try to remove the bolt?

easy...

there are a few ways to do it but this is the easiest I found... turn the crank with a 15/16's socket until the two balancing holes are on the passenger side. Get a long 3/8 drive extension and put it in one of the holes. Let it hit the chassis and then turn that bad boy till your veins pop out of your head (I would reccommend using a 1/2 drive with a 15/16 socket and also put a leverage bar over the ratchet so you don't kill yourself in the process). The other way is to go under the truck and insert a screwdriver into the flywheel (where the tranny connects to the block). If you look under the truck, there should be a little grommet that you will pop off and you will be able to see the flywheel. Let the screwdriver hit against the bellhousing and then try cranking down on the crankshaft pully assy. (Go with method A first though)... I guess you know that you will need a hamonic balancer puller to get it actually disconnected...

I was able to use an impact gun on the bolt and it came off without too much trouble. However, I'm now baffled as to how to remove the pulley itself. I used a puller and just ended up bending it. Anyone have ideas?

Did you use a harmonic balancer puller?

Just heat the balancer up a little, not the crank, then use puller, it should come right off. Be carefull some balancers have rubber in them.
