Hello,

I have the typical DIN and a half radio in my '98 Explorer Sport. I was wondering if there is a way to get the radio out without having to buy the DIN Tools??

I think I read on here that you can use coat hanger wire but I did not work for me, I think I did it wrong?

Any help is appreciated.

Hey Lazz, you may want to give this a shot.
Go to your local Circuit City (or equivalent), tell them you need 5 minutes for one of their guys to walk out to your truck and pop the radio out.
Just tell them it's a ford factory radio, they'll know what you mean (hopefully :D )
Done that a few times with company vehicles and they always accomodate(for free).

They aren't that expensive of a tool though, maybe you should pick one up just to have on hand. I've got 2 sets I think.

They're like $4.00 at AutoZone.

same price at wal-mart too.

Kool  Thanks Fella's I almost dumped $15 on ebay for those ridiculous things...

I just cut two pieces of coathanger and bent it into a u shape. This worked in my friends ford escort and in my exploer to remove the radio.

OUCH!
Shoot for half that I'd have mailed you one of my sets.
But save yourself a few bucks and pick one up local, or like I said, ask a guy at circuit city to do it for ya.
