Pulling the engine on my 02 explorer, book says to remove the front axles, is that really necessary or is it a clearance issue that can be resolved by dropping the oil pan? thanx for your help

i didnt when i pulled mine, i just removed a bolt on the motor mount on the driver and pass side (made install a little more tricky due to the need to realign the holes, but much less trouble than pulling axels). are you 4.0 or 4.6?

sorry bout that, 4.0, sucked a valve

the motor mounts are two pieces correct? you should still be able to remove the engine with removing hte axels.

yep, 2 piece mounts, when I was under the truck I could'nt see a prob, was wondering if I missed something

shouldnt be an issue, my manual wanted me to drop the whole front differential lol...needless to say, that didnt happen.
