Removing some of the covers

Can you remove the big plastic engine cover, to make the under hood area look better? I'd like to get rid of as many covers as I can and re-route some wires so that you can see the valve covers.

Yes you can remove the plastic cover thingy - just a few screws.
 






we are taking about the one in the back middle of the hood, that says 4.0 on it right?
 












As long as it is just a trim piece and not the actual intake manifold, you should be fine.LOL


EDIT: I don't see an engine cover on the '05 Explorer V6 engine, at least any any pics I could find. That big black thing over the drivers side valve cover is the intake manifold and can't be removed. Well, technically you can remove it, but it is part of the engine and you have to put it back to drive the truck.
