I'm trying to remove my stock HU for my 2002 Explorer but I don't wanna put too much pressure because I don't know whats all under that big 'ol plastic piece and the way the dash boards are now when i bend the flathead back to pop it off, it's almost making indents in the dash from it. Anyone got any simpiler solutions?

Ask the guys at your local install place what they do. Thats your best bet. Try not to get swindled into letting them do it, installing a stereo is way too simple to pay for.

Does the 2002 HU have the same 4 little rectangular holes like the old ones do? If it does, there will be 2 little holes on each side, about 2" apart from each other. Go to Walmart and buy the tools to release the HU, like $3.

Nope, I already looked at that (you can just use coat hangers if you dont wanna waste $3 lol)

I still can't get the damn thing off I need to get into it not just for the HU but for the A/C and 4x4 bulbs, replacing all my bulbs with either hpyer white lights or blue led

The panel around the radio is held in with clips you have to carefully pry is off. There are then 2 screws holding the radio in.

Figured it out, thanks. Just need to find me an install kit...
