IS THIS COMMON?
I just repainted my manink taillight gaurds. They are only a year old and I had to sand them down and repaint them. The paint that was on them began to bubble and it started to rust in areas. The brush gaurd is begining to rust as well. I will soon have to remove it and hit it up w/ some Rustolium. Anyone else have this problem?

I had that problem when I had Maniks on my X. I actually sent them back to Manik and they sent me a new front bar and a new back light gaurds. Their customer service was excellent. I forget if its a 3 year warrenty they have or if its 10 years now. I dunno but I kinda miss driving my X. I do like my new Z71 though.

rustolium, shmustolium, just herculine em. That'll stop what ails em.

Definately send them back and request that they be replaced. Now that you've repainted the rear guards they wont replace them, I'm sure that voids the warranty, but they should replace the brushguard.

Good luck.

they all do it

That's exactly why I went with stainless. There are a couple of companies that have started making black-anodized stainless to prevent the rust problem.

As for solving yours... I'd hit it with a can of rustoleum then have it line-x'd or herculine'd... it'll NEVER rust through it... might rust out completely underneath it, but you'll never see it. :)

You can't anodize stainless, you can only anodize aluminum. Is it black oxide coating, maybe?
