so, I found a worn through air line on my automatic ride control system. I need to replace about a 3 inch section of air line.

Anybody have any thoughts on how to patch in a section of line? Maybe there is a repair kit for semi air brake lines that would work. It is for the front passenger side shock. I was looking for a new line, but can't seem to find one.

Anybody know where this particular line connects to the rest of the system or how big of a pain it is to replace the whole line?

Thanks,

I think I fixed the air line. Here's what I ended up doing.

The fittings that are on the shocks that you push the line into and then can remove by depressing the collor and pulling are called Legris fittings. I'm not sure if that is a manufacturer or the type.

I cut the bad part of the line out. The line has a semi-rigid center line covered by a rubber hose. I stripped off about an inch of the rubber hose exposing the inner line. This inner line is 3/16 OD. I was able to find some compression fittings that went from compression with ferrule to pipe thread. Then I was able to find a legris fitting that went from pipe thread to 5/32 OD line. I put these on each end of the air line. Then I connected them with a piece of legris line.

I had to go through this trouble because I couldn't find a 3/16 legris fitting.

The better way to do it would have been to order a legris fitting that was 3/16 female-female, cut the section of line out, and connect them back to tegether with the fitting. The line would have been long enough without adding another piece of line.

We'll see how well it holds up. Hope this helps the next guy.

BTW, I called a local semi repair shop and they had some fittings, but not 3/16. They could have ordered them for me.
