I have a 2002 Explorer XLT V6 4.0 w/ 62,000 miles - my service engine light came on and the code came back P1074. I was due for an oil change so I also had them change the fuel and air filters. The next day I replaced the mass airflow sensor myself. They siad I would have to drive 70 miles before the light went off. I have now driven over 100 and the light is still on. I have not noticed any change in how my car is driving, but I did notice the gas mileage is not so great, but that may be due to fuel lost when they changed the fuel filter. I had just filled up and it seems the guage went down faster this fill-up. I am not very handy when it comes to cars but I also can't afford to take it to the dealer and spend a lot of money for nothing. I am female so they see dollar signs when I drive up. Can anyone give me a suggestion?

I would re-set the computer myself and see what happens. If the light comes back on, then you have a problem. To re-set the computer, unhook the positive (red) side of the battery. Count to about 20 or 30. Re-connect. Start it up and see what happens.
