I did some searching on dead power windows (which I have on the Explorer my wife and I just picked up), and found a thread or two with posts from folks stating that they found broken ground wires either inside the door wiring, or in the loom that goes into the body from the door.
So, I took that wire 'conduit' that attaches to the door and to the accordion rubber sleeve that leads from the conduit to the body apart by unscrewing the bolt that is at the top center, and after prying the connector apart and then the wires apart some so I could see them all, what I found instead of a broken ground wire (all four black wires seem OK so far) was a lt. blue/blk wire that had pulled out of the female end of the conduit connection (body side), big as heck. Looking up that wire, it's the "switch power" wire, circuit 400. That explains the dead windows! Note: the lock/unlock and mirror power is still good.
So, my question: has anyone had any luck repairing a wire that's pulled out of the conduit plug like that? or will I have to just bypass the loom and connect the switch power circuit wire up in that way?
Thanks!
