Replace airbox?

I was wondering if it is possible to replace the airbox? I heard that it does restrict airflow and wanted to know if there is a way I could just put on like a K&N air filter or anything like that. I drive a '93 Explorer 4dr eddie baurer.

do a search here for KKM (Kurtz Kustomz Motorsports) and you'll find lots of info on that. KKM is an open-element filter that replaces the stock airbox.
