Replace factory sub?

Hey everyone. Is it feasible to replace the factory sub? I have the 290W 6-disk upgraded system, which sounds OK i guess, but I was wondering if it is worth it to replace the cheesy paper sub in the rear quarter (I want all of my luggage space, hence the desire to use the factory hole) thanx...

Yes, yes it is worth it. If you have the 8" opening then i would go with the JL 8w3. My girlfriend has it in her saturn and probably the best 8" sub ive heard.

Yeah i used to have JL 8's and with a good amp most people didnt believe they were only 8's

If the factory sub was replaced, will the new one work fine with the factory amp? How do I actually get to the sub to replace it?

I cramed a 10 in there but I am having issues with the tuning of the box as well as a helluva lot of rattle.
I also have a aftermarket amp in there.
Doing the swap was easy since I upgraded the whole system.
With the stock HU I believe you will need an amp by pass harness.
Beyond that it is all a matter of allowing your self plenty of time to do the job right. take the seats out and all that. Do a nice neat clean job.
It took me almost three days for a total instal, two amps, a distro, four speakers, two tweets, a sub, a hu, a 6-disc change and an eq.
Take your time and do every thing right the first time.

You just have to take off the cover over the factory sub area, and unscrew the old and put in the new.

Do you have to remove the entire rear panel or just the little cover?

I have a 2002, and I know that the sub placement is different...would this still apply?
