i have a 99 Explorer 6 cyl. sohc, if that makes a difference, and i'm trying to replace my font headlights, the main low beams. But i cant figure out how to get the plastic cover/molding out. I unscrewed the three screws underneath the flip-up cover on top of the radiator but from there, what do i do? Anyone know or have done this?

Shouldn't you just be replacing the bulb? Or are you wanting to replace the headlight assembly?

The bulb

I'm just replacing the bulb, eventually probably the case too, but i can't even get to the bulb. Shouldn't the front plastic covering pull off, and then expose the stock lightbulb?

you replace the bulb by taking it out of the back of the housing

so i have to reach like down in the engine compartment and do it? wouldn't it be the electric cable, or right around that? thanks

manual

it says to look in the owners manual, but guess who doesnt have one? does someone have theirs and could they "quote" the little exceprt about it, it would be appreciasted greatly. This frustrates me so much because i just want to change a friken headlight and i cant figure it out, and it should be easy! anyways

You will see the wire, twist the housing and the bulb will pop out.

Here is a link that gives you an idea of what comes off where.

For me, it's easier to remove the battery & air cleaner to get the access to the back of the headlights to remove the bulbs and put the new bulbs back in without touching them.

solved

i figured it out last night. I had the right knob all along, but it was tight because it hasn't been touched since it was manufactured. Thanks for the help though.
