I was surprised the little balls for these did nut rust off like my 1st gens. I was able to replace mine with the Strongarm replacements. OMG It's SO much effort now to close the hatch. Little too much. But they should loosen a little. Did the window ones too. It's nice to have that not fall on my head. 👍
Part #4608 & 4754

Yeah, they’re pretty stout when new. Especially warm.

I recently got some "A premium" brand for my Jeep SUV hatch glass and they are the same, very stiff, feels like just shy of breaking glass closing it.

Wish my hood struts were that strong... I'm still replacing them every 3-4 years or so, but at least I saved a scan of the receipt because 1st pair I bought had a lifetime warranty.

No rust issues though, so easy enough to do in a couple minutes, otherwise I'd use vice-grips on the shaft or a baseball bat prop, or a few years back I considered putting in a manual prop assembly from a Ranger but that's more work than just getting replacements free under warranty from the Autozone just up the street. To clarify, Autozone's struts no longer have a lifetime warranty, which is why it was important that I saved my receipt (that states lifetime warranty on it) from when they had it.

SCORE for you.... they see you walking up and are like "Oh no, there's that guy who saved his lifetime warranty proof" ....doh !

It was funny, I had a 6X1 stirring strip I had to carry around in my last 2 1st gens cause the hatch strut mount rusted & snapped. I loved the looks I got when I had to prop it up.
